英语作文 篇3

Both my parents came from towns in Mexico. I was born in El Paso, Texas, and when I was four, my family moved to a housing project in East Los Angeles.

Even though we struggled to make ends meet, my parents stressed1) to me and my four brothers and sisters how fortunate we were to live in a great country with limitless opportunities. They imbued2) in us the concepts of family, faith and patriotism.

I got my first real job when I was ten. My dad, Benjamin, injured his back working in a

cardboard-box factory and was retrained as a hairstylist. He rented space in a little mall and gave his shop the fancy name of Mr. Ben's Coiffure3).

The owner of the shopping center gave Dad a discount on his rent for cleaning the parking lot three nights a week, which meant getting up at 3 a.m. To pick up trash, Dad used a little machine that looked like a lawn mower. Mom and I emptied garbage cans and picked up litter4) by hand. It took two to three hours to clean the lot. I'd sleep in the car on the way home.

I did this for two years, but the lessons I learned have lasted a lifetime. I acquired5) discipline and a strong work ethic6), and learned at an early age the importance of balancing life's competing interests7) — in my case8), school, homework and a job. This really helped during my senior year of high school, when I worked 40 hours a week flipping9) burgers at a fast-food joint10) while taking a full load of percolate courses.

The hard work paid off11). I attended12) the U.S. Military Academy and went on to receive graduate degrees in law and business from Harvard. Later, I joined a big Los Angeles law firm and was elected to the California state assembly. In these jobs and in everything else I've done, I have never forgotten those days in the parking lot. The experience taught me that there is dignity13) in all work and that if people are working to provide for themselves and their families that is something we should honor.

Last autumn we took a trip to Qianshan by bus. It is about thirty miles from the city. We planned to put up in a hotel there in order to watch the sun rise the next morning.

As soon as we got there, we began to climb up the mountains. How great the sight is! We felt as if we had entered amother world full of beauty, peaeefulness and loveliness. There are hundreds of mountains, one after another. there are magnificent cliffs, one above another. We climbed up vigorously and breathed the fresh air greedily. As the sun was going down, we descended to a little hotel at the foot of the hill, where we had a big dinner, and then went to bed early so as to regain the energy ior the expedition next morning.

Before daybreak, we reached the peak of the highest mountain after a hard groping and climbing in the dark. Unaware of the cold wind, we stood motionlessly, with our eyes fixing at the hr end of the east. Suddenly thin ravs of red hue spread across the sky. As the redness deepened, some mysterious clouds moved across thc sky, dividing heaven from the earth. Just at this moment, up from the brightening far east rose the sun. It was so red and yet so tender that we could gaze at it with naked eyes. and a slight applause from us. the amazed spectators, rang through the peak. Up, up it rose, adding to itself strength and glory at every step. It dazzled with vigour, driving away darkness, cold, and misery from the earth, and bring light, warmth, and happiness to men.

We were completely amazed at the wonder and the greatness of nature. We jumped and shouted like innocent children and we bathed in the first rays of the sun with the peak till it was time for our return.

  Should Online Businesses Be Taxed?

As to whether online businesses should be taxed, there is a long-running concern as well as controversial debate.

Some people contend that online businesses are economic entities、with the purpose of making profits,so it’s reasonable and obligatory for them to pay taxes.Taxing online businesses also demonstrates fairness to both physical retail businesses and their online counterparts. What’s more, they will benefit from it in the long run.But others disapprove of the practice. They hold the view that despite the high e-commerce transaction volume, online businesses do not have a very high profit margin.Taxation may force many online businesses to quit because they cannot make money any longer.Besides.ff online businesses are taxed.the increasing costs are likely to be shifted to consumers.unfavorable for their healthy development.

As for my personal viewpoint。I support the former opinion. Now that online businesses are commercial activities.they have no excuse to be exempted from taxation.Furthermore, the tax-free model surely brings some benefits to online businesses in the short term.but it will become a great obstacle for the far-reaching development of the whole trade.

英语作文 篇7

Presently, there is a tendency that a growing number of people are moving from countryside into city annually. A century ago, less than five percent of all people lived in cities. By the middle of this century it could be seventy percent, or almost six and a half billion people.

Urbanization can lead to social and economic progress, but also put pressure on cities to provide housing and services. With the increasing number of inpiduals pouring into cities, the worsening inequalities, driven by social pisions and differences in wealth, could result in violence and crime unless cities plan better. Another issue is urban expansion. This is where cities expand quickly into rural areas, sometimes at a much faster rate than urban population growth.

From my perspective, the government is expected to implement laws and regulations to limit the exceedingly growing of the urban population. As college students, we can seek employment back to our hometown and I am sure a promising future is awaiting us there.

英语作文 篇8

After watching "living elsewhere", I suddenly didn't want to think about any of the problems, just to relax and recollect the words in the book, recalling the surprises that the fragments brought to me. Those undisguised words bring me only simple thoughts, which is what we need.

The novel is mainly about the life of a talented young poet who is full of passion and short tragedy. It is wrong for Ma man to meet with engineers. This mistake has already predicted the future of Almir: his birth was by chance, and his life was controlled by Ma man. Man took the birth of his son as a meeting with another lover. She wanted to hold on to it because her husband had been betrayed. The son is her, her world. She wrote down his first sentence, and his mother was so delighted that he had to keep repeating the original reduplication or unintentional rhyme. The poets of the future are determined by this. The author intends to arrange his strong introspection from childhood, and his fate only caters to his mother. His turning point is to meet a painter. The meeting between the man and the painter is full of debauchery, and for his son, he gets a compliment and greater opportunity to show himself. His occasional dog head and headless woman were explained by modern art theory by the painters. Later, James Milo began to write poems. Mother has always controlled everything about her son. Because of her inferiority, she has found comfort and confidence from her intimacy with her son. The poet grew up. He peeped and he profaned, all of which proved his suppressed youth passion. But all he had was because of his mother's indulgence, but he was powerless to lose. After the end of the lustful encounter, she was temporarily silent. The life of a son is a dream, "he passes from a dream to another dream, as if from a life to another life." He wanted to escape, but fled from one dream to another. The son in love becomes a real poet, but the old man and death are often images, though he knows nothing. Sensitive talent has been proved, and mother's abnormal love is the biggest stumbling block. Then he threw himself into the revolution, revolting against reality, longing for fighting, and longing for honor. He was romantic and passionate, and thought "everything is all or nothing". Entanglement with women and entanglement with life, poetry is the carrier of life. His death was also due to the duel of Pushkin style, and his humble pride was protected. At last the mother could not catch him, and he fled from her life and finally fell asleep in her arms.

This has been well experienced by the poet's mother. For the poet's mother, she and the painter of the romantic affair, at the beginning, she was unable to understand the pressure of the painter, can not bear and break up, write a breakup letter, compile a reason that can not and son's teacher, so, she turned into the mother to give up love for the child, this speech It was so magnificent that she was moved by herself. Then she learned that after her husband was shot by the Nazi, she understood that her husband's silence was intended to preserve the family, and that the romantic affair and great love had become an uncharitable betrayal; but the truth was so merciful and the truth of the truth more satirize, and the husband was to be with a Jewish woman. The woman was arrested and killed, and the moment, the betrayal was no longer a betrayal. The woman felt the pain and felt the pure love of the painter. Then go back and look for her lover with excitement. As a result, when the painter's residence was discovered, there was another woman's laughter inside. Then, was it once love or not? Or is it just a fleshy lust?

It may be that sometimes when we go through experiments, we will be painfully aware that the ideal characters we are looking for and imitating may not be compatible with ourselves. So Beethoven's hero can only be given to a dead person, a person who never existed. We may laugh at ourselves when we laugh at others, but we do not realize it. Because in our minds, we are not the real ourselves - the guys we laugh at ourselves - we think we are our own, noble men.

Where should I live? The sentiment of the last old poet may reveal the true meaning: only when one is old, can he have no fear of the people around him, the public, and the future. He only got along with death, and he had no eyes and no ears. He didn't need to please the death. He could say what he liked and do what he liked.
